Meet Rue! Rue is a 4½-month-old Lab/Shepherd mix with a heart as sweet as they come. She is gentle, affectionate, and has a medium energy level, making her the perfect balance between playful adventures and cozy cuddle sessions. Overall, Rue is a wonderfully easy puppy who settles nicely into a routine and is a joy to have around.Rue is incredibly smart and learns routines and new skills quickly. She already knows the commands go potty, sit, and lay down and is working on stay. She's making wonderful progress with potty training when given frequent opportunities to go outside and is even beginning to signal that she needs to go by standing near the door. She's also doing well on a leash and enjoys exploring the world one walk at a time. Every day she grows a little more confident and comfortable with new experiences.Rue loves people and enjoys other dogs with slow, thoughtful introductions. Because she's still building confidence, she can become overwhelmed if she's faced with too many new experiences all at once. She does best when she's given time to observe, process what's happening, and then decompress before jumping into something else new.Rue is looking for a patient family that will continue helping her build confidence. She's very good at communicating how she's feeling—if she's had enough attention or is feeling unsure, she may give a gentle nibble as her polite way of saying, "No thanks." When she becomes overstimulated, she sometimes needs a little extra help settling down and relaxing. This is about the only time she will bark. Like many puppies, Rue is still learning that her kennel is a safe, happy place. She can be hesitant to go in and may cry briefly after the door closes, but she settles within a minute or two. With continued positive reinforcement, patience, and consistency, she's making steady progress and will benefit from a family willing to continue that training.Rue has made incredible progress in a short time, and it's been a joy to watch her confidence grow. She isn't looking for a perfect family—just one that will be patient, celebrate her wins, and continue helping her become the confident dog she's already well on her way to being. If you're looking for a loving, intelligent, easygoing puppy who will reward your patience with endless loyalty and affection, Rue might just be your perfect match.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
