BIO: Beauty is a beauty!! She is a retired breeding dog who needs a forever home that will teach her to be a pet. She is timid at first, but with the adopter's patience, she’ll be a wonderful addition to any family. BUT don’t just look at her coloring; look at the fact that you’ll need time (lots of it) and patience to help her on her way to being the beauty that she was meant to be.
Our must-haves for sweet Beauty include:
A fenced yard
Another adult small dog that is well-socialized to help her learn that being a pet is a wonderful thing
Someone who is home more often than not to work on her housebreaking skills and leash training
Sorry, no apartments, high-rises, condos, or duplexes, as she, like all dachshunds, likes to bark
If you meet all the requirements, then you can apply to adopt this little girl. Understand that it’s important that you also have experience with breeder dogs and know what they're like and how long it will take for her to learn what being a pet is all about.
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
