Callista is a gentle, sweet-natured girl with a heart as soft as her expression. While the shelter isn’t her ideal environment, she handles it with quiet grace, a happy wagging tail, and wonderfully polite manners. She may be a little shy when meeting new people, but with a little patience and kindness, she blossoms into an affectionate companion. Once you’re in Callista’s circle, be prepared for plenty of full-body scratches! She absolutely loves affection and isn’t shy about leaning in or rubbing against you when she’s hoping you’ll keep the pets coming. Spending quality time with her people and enjoying the fresh air are two of her favorite things, and she’s happiest simply being by your side. Callista will thrive with having a positive outlet for her energy. Though she is not an overly active dog, keeping both her mind and body happy will be key to her success! Unfortunately, we weren’t given any information about Callista’s previous home, but she has been an absolute pleasure during her time with us. She appears to be potty trained, walks beautifully on leash, and knows the cues “sit,” “down,” and “shake.” Her calmer, well-mannered personality makes her a joy to spend time with. Around other dogs, Callista has remained polite and non-reactive—even with one of the bounciest neighbors in the shelter! She has a laid-back demeanor and would likely appreciate a canine companion with a similar, easygoing personality. As always, we’re happy to arrange a dog meet-and-greet prior to adoption. Please keep in mind that Callista will need time to settle into her new home and decompress as she adjusts to a new routine. Once she feels safe and comfortable, we think you’ll discover what we’ve come to know—a loving, loyal companion with so much affection to give. We’re honestly surprised a shepherd lover hasn’t scooped up this wonderful girl already!
