A SWEET & GENTLE SOUL: Approx. 8 years old / Approx. 46 lbs.
Hi there, I’m Mama! I came to Mostly Mutts when I found myself in need of a new home and family. I’m glad to be here and I am enjoying my time in a nice quiet foster home while I wait to meet my new people. Plan to come meet me soon and see if I am your new furry family member!
· OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I get along very well with the mellow older dog in my foster home. We follow each other around, and I’m very affectionate with him. I even try to get my 14-year-old buddy to play, though he usually just looks at me like I’ve lost my mind! I’m very caring with him, too. I check on him often, stay right by his side, and even accompany him up and down the stairs. I seem to understand that his older joints and lower back make stairs more difficult, so I like to be there for him—I think that’s the Mama in me. I also met a couple of dogs at Mostly Mutts before going into my foster home and though I wasn’t quite ready to play with them, I also didn’t show any aggression. So, if you have a calmer-natured sweet dog at home already like me, let’s meet! / I am doing well with the kitty in my foster home and even allow her to rub her head on me. Of course, all cats are different, so I'm not sure how I would do with another kitty. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may accidentally bump over.
· PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I was pretty shut down when I first arrived at the shelter, but I’ve gained trust and confidence in my foster home. I’m a gentle, sweet, calm, and elegant girl who likes to take a little time getting to know new people. I’ve made wonderful progress in my foster home and I now seek affection, follow my foster around the house, play with her, and am comfortable in my surroundings. I generally only bark if my foster leaves the house with the other dog and I am left behind. I would do best with a family that will give me a little time and patience to adjust to my new home and blossom like I have in my foster home. / Energy level: Now that I feel comfortable, my energy level has increased to 5-7.
· SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I don’t seem to know any commands, but Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so we could do some training together. My foster has worked with me on being comfortable getting into and out of a car and now I’m doing well with this and I ride calmly. / I’ll go in my crate when needed, though I don’t choose to hang out in it. At nighttime I happily sleep on a doggie bed by my foster’s bed. / I have very good potty manners in my foster home and will quietly go to the door when I need to potty, so you do have to watch when I head that way as I don’t bark to alert you.
· LIKES/DISLIKES: I absolutely love soft blankets and enjoy snuggling up in them whenever I can. I also seem to enjoy watching TV, especially the DogTV programs my foster puts on for me. Relaxing and sunbathing are also enjoyable. I’ve even started showing interest in stuffed toys and am beginning to discover how much fun they can be! / I’m not a fan of loud noises, though my foster is helping me gradually get used to things like vacuum and weed eater sounds. I also don’t like being rushed into new situations or relationships and prefer a little time to feel comfortable and build trust. And like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training.
· MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet regarding a dental cleaning in the near future.
With a little patience, kindness and love, I look forward to being your wonderful companion! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
