Meet Lila, a 3-year-old mixed breed who weighs 28.3 pounds. She may be a little shy when you first meet her, but give her the time she needs, and you'll discover one of the sweetest, most devoted companions you could ask for.
Lila's favorite thing in the world is loving her people. She'll shower you with kisses, nuzzle into your shoulder, burrow under the blankets at bedtime, and happily snore right beside you. She thrives on affection and praise and genuinely wants to make her people happy. If you're looking for a dog who forms a deep, meaningful bond with her family, Lila is ready to give you her whole heart.
Since settling into her foster home, Lila's confidence has grown tremendously. She has become best friends with her canine foster brother, and the two love to play together before curling up for naps. She also enjoys snuggling with the other dogs in her foster home and even gives the resident cat affectionate face licks. While she enjoys toys, she can be a bit of a toy thief and prefers not to share them, sometimes grumbling to let the other dogs know she'd like to keep her prize.
Lila enjoys toys, games of fetch, chewing on a good bone, relaxing on the back cushions of the couch, and, most of all, spending time with her family. She is house-trained when kept on a regular schedule and has started letting her foster know when she needs to go outside. She keeps her crate clean but really doesn't enjoy being crated and does best when allowed to stay loose in the home. At night, she's happy sleeping on a dog bed or snuggled up in bed with her people.
Lila is naturally cautious with new people and takes time to feel safe. She may bark when visitors first arrive, but she has made wonderful progress and settles much more quickly than she did when she first came into foster care. She has been around adults, teenagers, and middle school-aged children and has done well, though she'll need patient introductions.
Lila's ideal home would include another friendly dog to show her the ropes and people who are home often to soak up all the love she has to give. Having a canine companion has helped her confidence blossom, and she's happiest when she's close to her family. Because she tends to bark at hallway noises and unfamiliar sounds, she would likely be happiest in a house rather than an apartment.
If you're willing to earn Lila's trust, you'll be rewarded with a loyal shadow who wants nothing more than to love you, make you proud, and be by your side every step of the way. Her minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.
She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
