Bailey was picked up as a stray and taken to an Ohio shelter. An owner was located but they never came for her. Bailey was SO SCARED at the shelter that they didn't even put her in a kennel, she stayed in the office where she spent most of the time hiding under a desk. She is a lucky girl in that when the shetler reached out to us for help and we posted for foster help, we got it! Bailey is currently hanging out at her temporary foster home in northern Indiana. As we get to know her we will post more information but so far we know that she is good with other doge. Bailey is very timid (but sweet!) in new situations. She does seem to prefer female humans more so than male humans but temp foster mom Sarah is working on that with her. Bailey is up to date on all vetting. The shelter had her at 6 years old, but she *might* be a little younger than that. 7/14 UPDATE....we had a change of plans to accommodate another Boxer girl who needed to be an only dog, so little Bailey stayed at her Indiana foster home. She is the funniest, smartest, sassiest girl and is absolutely amazing with her foster fursisters. From her foster mom:
• she loves being around the girls, she most definitely looks to them for security
• she is potty trained, but you absolutely have to let her out in the morning before you shower lol! On a good note she will go on the towel by the sliding door if you shower first
• she’s pretty jealous when I pet the other two, but sometimes I do it just to get her to howl at me because it’s so fricken adorable!
• she wants all the cuddles but doesn’t quite know how to accept them and is like a awkward 15 year old boy on a first date
• still timid around men, she barks a lot while wagging the tail and trying to get pets all while backing away lol! It’s a lot! But she’s trying!
• every day after work she’s on ottoman and girls are in bed by the fireplace! After dinner they swap and she’s sooooo good at that. I come around the couch and I’m like “Bailey you’re on the bed!” She hops down and gets on the bed!!
She’s very respectful!
• she eats very good, she likes the different extras in her food at dinner!
• I wash their bowls after meals so when she’s done and I pick up her bowl she just sits in its place and watches me, she’s never even tried to drink from the other water bowl, she only uses the one by her food bowl.
• taking treats are hilarious, she either takes them and runs somewhere with it or you have to place it in this little opening she does with her mouth she’s very very gentle!
• she loves car rides! And does very good!
• she runs out into the back like she wants to start shit but I mean, she barks at the one neighbor and I can’t say that anyone here cares for him sooo
• Shirley is her bodyguard I think! She won’t leave the deck unless Shirley is out there and it’s so cute because Shirley just stands on the deck and watches her!!
Things we are working on:
• sitting for treats
• not going 200 mph through the door. She definitely thinks she will be left outside (like a lot of my fosters) she will run out so fast and around the deck, go potty, then run back to the stairs and look for me! She has never walked in or out! Full speed ahead and she’s met the glass two or three times
She’s absolutely wonderful!!!
