Hello. I came to OCAS when my owner could no longer care for me. Everyone is working to help me adjust to my new environment. I'm fairly shy, but give me a little time and love, and I will warm up!Check out these updates from Pearl's foster:`Pearl has shown great improvements since she started foster care. After being crate trained and following a consistent daily routine, she has adjusted well. Since the last update, we decided to try new things to help get her anxiety under control when inside the house. I decided to have her sleep in her crate overnight to reduce accidents, which has been very helpful. It also allowed her to be calmer when she wakes up in the morning; she used to bark and howl at 7:00 a.m. every day. My roommate and I have been taking her on potty walks to get her more comfortable with different people. At first, she was anxious and had trouble going potty with my roommate, but after three days, she opened up. She is now doing great on her walks and has started taking treats from my roommateâs hand. We discovered that she loves saying hi to friendly dogs on walks! She met my friend's dog and did great with him; he was larger in size, so I was worried, but she handled the interaction very well. We are, however, still working on managing distractions during walks. Regarding cats, she is still being slowly introduced to our house cats. At first, she disliked them, but after getting comfortable in other parts of the house, she has started sitting calmly in the same room with them (for example, staying in the living room while the cats play). Like her sister Sweetie, she loves plush toys and the stuffingâwe have gone through a couple of toys already! She is not a fan of other toys, though she does enjoy chewing on toy bones, though they do not keep her as satisfied as the stuffing does. She also loves being petted and has started getting jealous when I pet my dog; she comes running and gives me her paw to start petting her too! I find it very cute because she is usually very reserved in her spot but automatically moves when she sees the petting happening. One other sweet moment was when my dog got so comfortable that they shared a crate while I was giving Pearl treats; my dog also got jealous and wanted some, so they both sat inside waiting together!``First, I want to thank Pearl's first fosters. Because of the love, patience, and time they invested in her. Pearl has been in our home for just over a week, and it has been such a joy to watch her confidence grow. We spent her first few days simply letting her decompress and settle into her new surroundings. Giving her the time and space to move at her own pace has made a big difference. Pearl lives with our two resident dogs, and they have been wonderful companions for her. She enjoys walking around the yard with them, has started joining us in the living room for our evening wind-down, and has proudly claimed one of the dog beds as her favorite spot. As Pearl has become more comfortable, we've slowly introduced her to new experiences and helped make her world a little bigger each day. She has met every new adventure with quiet bravery. We're also beginning to see her playful personality emerge, and it's been wonderful to watch her curiosity grow alongside her confidence. Pearl is a gentle, thoughtful dog who thrives with patience, consistency, and encouragement.`
