Name: Tree Best Guess for Breed: Hound mix
Best Guess for Age: 4 months as of July SEX: Male
Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 21 lbs as of 6/30/26
Gets Along With: Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.
Currently Living at: D.C. area foster home.
You can follow Tree along in his foster care adventures on Instagram @ fosteringtreeandcesar.
Special Adoption Considerations: Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.
Tree is Looking For: His forever home! This young boy is looking forward to having his own humans for play time and snuggles and sniffy walks (that hound nose!) and all the adventures they can dream up. Making pup pals is high on his wish list too! And puppy school so he can show how super smart he is. Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved. In exchange he promises all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags he's storing up, and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Does Tree get to grow up with you?
What My Foster Says About Me: If I had to sum up Tree in one sentence, it would be: he's an absolute gem.
He's the kind of puppy who greets every day with a wagging tail and a "What are we doing next?!" attitude. Confident, happy, and incredibly friendly, he's always ready to make a new friend.
Around the house, he's wonderfully respectful. He sticks to chewing his own toys, knows the dog beds are for lounging, and has great house manners for such a young pup. On walks, he keeps a good pace and has only really forgotten his manners when he spotted a dog he really wanted to say hello to, which is pretty understandable for such a social guy!
He's still a puppy, so he'll benefit from continued training and new experiences, but he's already off to an amazing start.
And if you're wondering about affection... he's the sweetest. He's generous with puppy kisses and loves standing in front of you while you shower him with ear rubs and scritches.
Overall, he has been wonderful pup who learns quickly and has so much potential. He's going to make an amazing addition to one very lucky family.
Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog! TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.
