Oh, sweet Hilda! Hilda is a purebred Rottweiler who came to us from the city pound when her legal stray hold was finished and no one claimed her. She's estimated to be at least 8 years old and she is, to put it mildly, severely overweight at 150 pounds. We did piece together her backstory a bit and it appears that she has had a couple of different homes and was possibly used as a breeder at some point. We would very much like to get this sweetheart into a permanent home. She has been fully vet checked, vaccinated, and medically cleared. She will still need a dental and spay surgery when she has lost weight and anesthesia is safer. This will be covered by us under her adoption fee of $150. We don't know the specific details of her past, like her exact age and real name, because although she was already microchipped, it was not registered.
Hilda needs a home that understands the importance of her needing to lose weight. It is neither cute nor funny and will not happen overnight. It will require commitment and discipline. Right now, she does not have a lot of stamina and can only handle small walks. She will need to work up to longer distances as she loses weight and gains strength. She is good with all people and has been fine with other dogs. We're not sure about cats but she most likely wouldn't have the ability to do anything negative with them. She has a wonderfully happy and loving personality and just adores being with people.
NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org.
