Meet Mixtape — Your Favorite Song in Dog Form
Mixtape is a 2–3 year old, 13-pound Dachshund mix with the sweetest, most soulful demeanor. Rescued from a shelter, this little guy may start out a bit shy, but give him a few days and you’ll see his true personality play — loyal, gentle, and quietly affectionate. He’s the kind of dog who forms a deep bond with his people, and once you’ve earned his trust, you’ll have a devoted companion who brings a calm, steady joy to everyday life.
A Day in the Life of Mixtape
Mixtape wakes up between 6–7 AM for his morning potty break and walk, followed by breakfast. During the day, he’s content to lounge on the sofa or curl up on a dog bed near his person’s desk, happily keeping you company while you work or relax.
In the late afternoon, he heads out for another walk to explore the neighborhood smells he loves so much. Dinner is served around 6 PM, and he wraps up his day with one last potty break around 8 PM before settling in for the night. Mixtape sleeps comfortably in his crate — he goes in willingly and rests quietly — though he’d be just as happy snoozing on the sofa or carpet nearby.
Personality: Gentle, Loyal, and Sweetly Affectionate
When Mixtape first arrived in foster care, he was shy and unsure. By day three, his gentle personality began to shine through. He’s still a bit reserved with new people and prefers to take introductions at his own pace, but once he feels safe, he becomes a wonderfully loyal companion.
He’s not a clingy “Velcro” dog, but he does enjoy knowing his person is nearby. After settling in, he’s perfectly content to stretch out in a sunny spot and nap. His affection shows up in the sweetest ways — soft kisses, a paw resting on your arm, or his head gently placed on your leg. It’s a calm, quiet closeness that makes you feel special.
Social Life & Compatibility
Mixtape currently lives as the only dog in his foster home, but he has done very well during playdates and outings with other dogs. He greets canine friends politely, shows curiosity, and has never displayed aggression — even with much larger dogs. He’s still learning how to play, but his gentle nature makes him an easy companion.
With new people, he may take a moment to warm up, but he’s more curious than fearful. Once comfortable, he happily accepts belly rubs and attention.
Energy Level: The Perfect Balance
Mixtape is a lovely mix of playful and relaxed. After meals, he often entertains himself with toys, and he truly enjoys his daily walks, soaking in all the sights and smells. When the adventure is over, he’s ready for a long, cozy nap. He doesn’t require intense exercise — just a daily walk and some companionship keep him content.
Training & Manners
Mixtape is a well-mannered little gentleman who is housetrained with no accidents in the home, crate trained and comfortable being left alone for several hours, and rarely barks. He walks politely on leash and does not pull.
Why You’ll Fall in Love
Mixtape has the most charming quirks — one ear sticks out to the side while the other stands up in a floppy salute, his paws look adorably oversized for his tiny body, and his enthusiastic tail seems like it belongs to a much bigger dog. But the real magic is in his gentle heart. When he rests his paw on you or leans his head against your arm, it’s impossible not to melt.
He’s an easygoing, sweet companion who just wants a place to belong — and once he finds it, the bond you share will be something truly special.
