Della is a beautiful female who is approximately 18 mos old weighing ~77 lbs. She is many things but is not Della-cate. Our two favorite words to describe her are Adora-bull and Lova-bull. In other words, she is an adorable bull in a china shop. At her young age, she hasn’t quite grasped the fact that she is 75 lbs. & of pure adolescence and is not a teacup lap dog.If you need your personal space from your next 4-legged buddy, Della will probably not be a good fit for you. If, however, you cannot get enough love from your furry family member sidekick, Della could be your dream girl.Della is house trained and has a very gentle mouth when taking treats. She is very easy going and has done great with the 3 male German Shepherds in her foster home. While she has gotten along with all the dogs she has met so far, Della would be just as happy being your one and only. She is a girl who thrives on love, attention and positive feedback. With her calm & easy-going temperament, it’s possible she would evaluate well for work as a service dog.Della is very smart & catches on quickly. She learned to fetch on the 3rd throw and has learned to wait calmly when all the dogs are gathered at the door to head out for a walk. Dellas’ curiosity and desire to investigate the unknown is a wonderful trait but it will keep you on your toes. For those with GSD experience, we know that having a smart German Shepherd works both ways. As an example, after watching us enter & exit our pantry through the baby gate, Della figured out how to open it herself.Returning from taking the garbage outside, we found Della tossing a bag of sweet potatoes up in the air in the family room. Looking at our Ring camera, Della watched us leave the room, she entered the pantry and grabbed the potatoes in under 2 minutes. Mind you, it was not for the lack of toys as there are dog toys in every room in our house. Her response when questioned ……. “if the potatoes weren’t there for my entertainment, why are their potatoes in the house” …. followed up with puppy dog eyes.Della rides nicely in cars and is learning leash manners. She has shown high prey drive on walks but has not been tested with cats in the home. It’s possible, she may be fine with a dog savvy cat. Level 2
