Dru is a 10-month-old, 55 lb lovebug with a big personality and a huge heart. He’s incredibly affectionate and loves being close to his people—cuddles, attention, and making you laugh are some of his favorite things. We often call him a big “hambone” because he will absolutely be silly on purpose just to get a reaction. He’s also very handsome, and it’s rare to get through a walk without someone stopping to comment on him.Dru is a wonderful young dog with a lot of potential—but he is still very much a large, energetic puppy.In his foster home, Dru has built a solid routine. He enjoys a 20–30 minute walk in the morning and evening, along with yard breaks during the day. With that structure, he settles well in his crate during the day. He is both crate trained and potty trained. He loves to play, especially fetch, and does best when he has a consistent outlet for his energy.Dru has already started training and is an eager, capable learner. He is food motivated, wants to please, and has a great foundation with commands like “sit” and “down.” He also has started `heel` training. He is learning impulse control skills like waiting for meals and at doorways, and is currently working on “place.” He responds well to clear expectations and consistent, positive reinforcement.That said, Dru will need an adopter who is committed to continuing his training. He is not a good fit for a first-time dog owner or someone looking for an easy, low-maintenance dog.Like many big puppies, he is still learning how to manage his excitement. He can be mouthy during play and doesn’t always realize his size and strength. His foster family is actively working on this, and he is making progress, but it will require continued structure and follow-through. He plays well with other dogs but has a rough, rowdy style and benefits from guidance and clear boundaries. He needs someone willing to stay engaged in his development.To be clear, Dru is not a chaotic or out-of-control dog—he’s a normal, large puppy learning his boundaries. As he matures, and with continued training, he’s already showing signs of being a more laid-back, easygoing companion. He just needs someone willing to guide him through this stage and stay consistent.Dru is friendly with people, including children, but due to his size and ongoing training, he would likely do best in a home with older kids who are comfortable around a big, active dog.Dru is looking for someone who sees his potential and is ready to put in the work to help him reach it.
