Spike is our little guy with a big name. He came to us with some of the other Dachshund mixes from the hoarding situation, last year and was recently returned due to no fault of his own. Last year after his vet visit it was determined that his tongue is super tiny for his mouth. They think that Spike will live a healthy life. This little super man has survived without complications for the first year of his life. Most complications occur within the first few months of their life. It was suggested to feed him meatballs (wet food mixed with dry food rolled into small meatballs.) How fun is that to make your furry friend meatballs? This is so he can get it to the back of his mouth to swallow. It is also suggested that he use a large, bottled water dropper like rabbits use and to offer him ice cubes, he will use these things but does prefer to drink water from a bowl, when he does this though he does drink then hold his head up high so the water goes down. We are hoping this does not scare people from adopting him. He is the sweetest little guy and deserves a forever family of his own. Spike has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, He did test positive for Lyme and is on a round of doxycycline.
