Bear is an incredible 10 year old miniature schnauzer who came to us from the city pound when he went unclaimed by his owner. He came to us with a severely damaged eye. We pieced together his story and found out he had been dealing with this injury and associated infections for almost 5 years! One of our incredible vets removed the damaged eye and did a fantastic job repairing the residual damage caused by years of infection and neglect. Bear has been fully vaccinated and chipped now, too, and is ready for a special home in which to live out his life. His strength is inspiring. His adoption fee is $150 has been covered by a local supporter.
Bear is a fantastic dog who is completely unaffected by the trauma he has experienced. He is happy, playful, bouncy, and affectionate and would make a great companion for someone. He's looking for a somewhat quiet and calm ADULT only home (teens are fine). He does have some sneezing and snorting associated with his reconstructed nasal passages. He loves to go for walks and keeps a clean kennel. He would do okay with a well mannered, calm dog of similar size. He will need to watch his physical exertion as his breathing is a little compromised now, due to the damage he had originally sustained.
NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org.
