Rookie is an endearing, intelligent, gentle, and affectionate pure bred german shepherd who is good with children and other dogs. Unfortunately, due to a divorce he is now seeking a new person or family. He has lived with kids as young as 10 but has been around younger children. He reacts with curiosity, but mostly follows them around to see what's happening. He does well at a dog park although he has not lived with dogs. He is well trained and knows SIT, STAY, DOWN, HEEL, COME, and FINISH. There is a video from the trainer explaining the commands and how he should react to each one. Living with a cat is unknown since the last cat he lived with would run away. He likes being in the yard, running around, taking walks and going to the dog park. He enjoys chewing toys and his special stuffed animals. He has not yet figured out fetch, but just loves being with his person. A person or family who have lots of love to give, and time to spend with Rookie playing, exercising, being outdoors and training, will be rewarded with a devoted lifetime companion. Rookie is a very loving dog and will thrive with a family that will be as happy to see him as he is to see them.
