Meet Thumbs, or as he prefers to be called, Toby. He is a one year old, forty-eight pound, neutered male, husky/ beagle mix. As you can tell from his soulful eyes, he is a sweet, loving dog who gets along well with other dogs, cats and older kids. He loves to run, and fetch and explore, but also loves to snuggle, play with toys, and get belly rubs.
Toby does not have a mean bone in his body. Unfortunately, he has not had the best experiences with people, so strangers and car rides are still challenges, but he is smart and meets challenges well.
He is more comfortable and confident around other dogs, allowing more dominant dogs to have their way while still managing to win them over. He is playful with cats without being rough. He is totally house and crate trained and walks very well on a leash. He takes commands (SIT, PLACE, HIGH-FIVES) well and learns them quickly.
Toby will thrive in a home with another dog, patient/experienced dog owners, older children, and a fenced in yard. He is not overly treat-motivated, which is okay because he wants to please his people. Once you are Toby's “people”, he will be dedicated to you.
