Ahoy there… they call me Captain Jack. I may not have always had a ship, but I’ve got a big heart and I’m ready to anchor it somewhere safe at last.
I’m about 4–5 years old, a 60-pound Carolina Dog–type mix, and I made quite the journey from living on the streets of Georgia up to NJ. Life out there wasn’t easy, but I never let it harden me. If anything, it made me softer, gentler… more grateful for the little things. These days, I love the simple things. Sunny spots to stretch out in, bird watching, peaceful walks, and car rides where I can be your quiet, curious co pilot. I’m a well mannered gentleman. I’m housebroken, love my crate as a cozy safe space, and I’m happiest just being near you, keeping you company.
I’ll be honest with you, though… my past left me with a few stories to tell. Before I was rescued, I was attacked by another dog. It hurt me pretty badly, and I needed reconstructive surgery on my eye. It looks a little different now but it doesn’t bother me one bit. I just need a few daily eye drops, and I’m good as new. I like to think it gives me a bit of pirate charm. Because of that, I can be a little unsure around other dogs, especially at first. I’m not aggressive; just a bit shy and cautious. I’d do best in a calm, quiet home where I can feel safe and take my time settling in. While I’m great with people including kids, a home with adults, or one without too much hustle and bustle, would be perfect for me as I find my sea legs again.
Despite everything, I’m still a happy boy. I still trust. I still love. I still believe my person is out there. I’m neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all my vaccines—ready to sail to a new start. My adoption fee is $415. So, what do you say?
