Eris joined us recently when her family had to surrender her and several other dogs in the home. The man of the house had a medical emergency and was in the hospital for four months and then brought home to be on hospice. :( The mom and two kids were heartbroken, but she could no longer care for their seven dogs and two cats.
Eris is a four-year-old dachshund and just under fifteen pounds. She was born on Valentines Day, in 2022. She had a few litters of puppies with one of the other dachshunds in the home before he was neutered.
Eris is a very sweet girl who loves to sit in your lap or be next to her person. She loves to go for walks on the beach and in the neighborhood and prefers to be in the lead. She is good with other small and medium dogs but a little intimidated by large dogs. She lived with two older kids in her former home. She rides perfect in the car but will need help getting in and out as she is so small.
Eris is housebroken if taken out regularly and doesn't need to be crated. She is a dachshund so does bark often. Apartment living may not be best since Dachshunds do bark frequently.
Dachshunds can live to 16-19 years old so keep this in mind if applying. It is best that a dachshund owner protects the dog's spine by providing stairs or ramps to get up and down from furniture. It is crucial to keep them at a healthy weight and provide regular exercise as they are prone to IVDD. (Intervertebral Disc Disease) -and surgery is very expensive.
Dachshunds are fearless, headstrong, playful and smart. Most are toy obsessed as well. :)
Eris is a beautiful little girl who will make a wonderful companion to the right person or family.
Approved application, home visit, and adoption fee of $350 required.
