Hi all, my name is Obbie. I am a beautiful and healthy 4-year-old, Labrador Retriever × Belgian Malinois mix.Sadly, due to the long term hospitalization of my current owner, I find myself in need of a new home. I am very smart and eager to please and love learning new commands. My owner says that I am very fun to be with, as I have a great sense of humour and just love life.I started out as a puppy with my rehoming adopter's family when they were visiting relatives in Mexico. I have always been loved and provided for with lots of good food and hugs of course. I am a cuddly guy who loves to lie at your feett with my belly up so that my humans can give me belly rubs. I also love to play fetch which is a great way for me to play with my humans.I am looking forward to another active home as I love going on long walks and hikes. As I am highly food-motivated (especially treats and apples!) I am very easy to train. I am friendly with all people and kids, though I need a bit of time to warm up to strangers, but I am never aggressive towards them.I get along well with other dogs, but may be somewhat reactive to other medium/large male dogs who are assertive with me. I would do best in a home with a lovely, fenced backyard. I currently live with a cat, so would be happy to share my new home with one. While I have never lived with another dog, I would be more than happy to live with an easy-going one.Additional videos: https://youtu.be/ywMZe0DuSj0; https://youtube.com/shorts/JhItUvbpRHEI am neutered and up to date on my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $500.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
