Approximate Weight: 36lbs as of Feb 2026

Currently Living at: DC area foster home
Hazel is Looking For: Her forever home! This young pup hasn't seen enough of the world yet, and is eagerly looking forward to having her own humans for sniffy walks and all the adventures they can dream up. And dog school so she can show how super smart she is. And then pets and cuddles and belly scritches at the end of a fun day together. And she'll want quality kibble and a cushy dog bed.
What My Foster Says About Me: Hazel is a gorgeous sweetheart! She enjoys saying hi to other dogs on walks and is a very loving girl. Volunteers in our Dogs Day Out program have hung out with Hazel and rave about her. She enjoys walks and is pretty good on a leash - absolutely loves saying hi to all humans and dogs that she passes. She appears to be trainable and will make a family very happy.
Heartworm information: Hazel is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Hazel has completed this activity restriction period.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog
Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.
