Hello everyone! My name is MERLIN and I am about 3.5 years old, about 67 lbs, and I am a tripaw. I have been described by those who knew me in Texas and those who now know me in Greater Vancouver as a wonderful, loving dog. I love to to ride in the car and I am a good boy at the vet. I find training quite easy because I am very food motivated although I am never aggressive or unkind to anyone, dog or human. My vet in Texas said that dogs with one blue eye and one brown eye are mystical and can see both heaven and earth. I guess that's how I got my name. I was found with a useless right front leg. My rescuers think that I had been hit by a car a year before they found me but my “owners” never treated me. My leg eventually became so painful that I began tearing at the tissue. My rescuers found me and took me to the vet—they could not save my leg and it was amputated but I am now doing amazingly well on 3 legs. I was also positive for heartworms but was treated and I have now tested negative after treatment. I continue to be on preventative meds so heartworms are in the past for me. I am neutered, immunized, and microchipped. I have had a hard road but the vet has now confimed that I am a very healthy young dog! My energy level is moderate and I am working on my leash walking skills. As a front amputee, I'm a dog that needs a bit of room on a leash to go at my own pace as controlled walking right beside a human is abit challenging for me. I also would do best in a home with minimal stairs.I love to play with other dogs and even with cats - true!! I am also housetrained and I love all people, kids included. My rescuers are suggesting that I am best with older kids, however, as I am a fairly big guy and when I am energetic and playful, I can be a bit overpowering with little kids.I am very much looking forward to finding my forever home with humans who love me as much as I will love them.
