Meet Bolt – #MADLoveBoltBolt's story started just before the holidays when he and another dog wandered into a quiet Miami neighborhood after spending time near a very busy road. Thankfully, neighbors quickly came together to keep them safe while searching for their family. They were taken to the vet, where no microchip was found, and despite every effort, no owner came forward. Now Bolt is ready to find the forever home he deserves. Located in Central Florida Approximately 4.5-year-old male Belgian Malinois, 80 lbs Neutered and vaccinated Potty trained Great on a leash Knows his basic commands and is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and highly trainable Does well in a wire crate Loves people—attention is his favorite reward! Big cuddle bug with a surprisingly mellow off-switch for the breed No food aggression and can be hand-fed or share bowls with other dogs Calm and trusting with veterinarians and handlersBolt does well with other dogs when given slow, proper introductions. Since he entered rescue intact, integrating with resident dogs took a little extra time, and he can get excited around unfamiliar dogs, but with structure and patience he has done very well.He is cat curious. He recently met a cat, ran over to investigate, gave it a lick, and walked away! While that's certainly promising, the cat stayed still and didn't run, so we can't officially say he's cat tested. Slow introductions and supervision would still be recommended.Bolt has also done well around an 11-year-old child, remaining calm, neutral, and respectful.Bolt is a guy who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to let you know. He'll remind you when it's dinner time, when he needs to go outside, when someone is walking by the house, and he'll never pass up the chance to ask for a hug.He would do best in a home where he won't be left alone for long periods, as he enjoys having his people nearby. He has been doing well with crate training and settles nicely in a wire crate. One thing to know about Bolt is that he has a bit of an adventurous side and has been known to be an escape artist. For the first few weeks in a new home, extra care should be taken to ensure fences, gates, and doors are secure while he adjusts to his new routine. If you're looking for a loyal best friend who loves to cuddle, wants to be part of everything you do, and will reward you with endless affection, Bolt is ready to meet you.
