Sally | 7-year-old, 65 lb German Shepherd Mix | A loyal heart with big feelings
Sally is a beautiful, 65-pound German Shepherd mix with a heart as big as she is. She absolutely adores her people and forms deep bonds with those she loves. Whether she's playing with her canine companions, going for a car ride, tossing around her favorite Lamb Chop toy, or curling up for snuggles after a day of adventure, Sally is happiest when she's included in the fun. She's house trained, knows several basic commands, is food motivated, and is eager to please. While she enjoys daily walks and playtime, she's just as content relaxing with her family once she's had a chance to burn off some energy.
Sally does well with other dogs in the home after proper introductions and currently lives successfully with both large and small dogs, as well as four cats. One thing her future family should know, however, is that Sally is reactive toward unfamiliar dogs when she's on leash. She is very strong and requires a confident handler who is comfortable managing her on walks and committed to continuing her training. She can also become vocal when dogs pass by the house. At home, Sally prefers the freedom to roam when left alone rather than being confined. She is calm and well behaved when given that freedom but becomes stressed if crated or shut in a room.
Sally has been through more change than any dog should. Found as a stray shortly after having puppies, she completed heartworm treatment before being adopted, only to be returned through no fault of her own when her adopter's partner developed allergies. Through it all, she has remained incredibly loving and eager to connect with her people. Sally is looking for an experienced, active home that will provide patient leadership, continue her training, and, most importantly, make a lifelong commitment to her. In return, you'll gain one of the most affectionate and devoted companions you'll ever meet.
If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.
The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following:
Spay/neuter
Microchip
DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
