Hello Friends! My name is Yaeger and I am a mature dog of about 8 years old. I have been living in the Greater Vancouver area for the past 6-7 years and enjoy walks in Nature as well as playing in a back yard. I am being rehomed by my current adopter due to there now being a toddler in the family who scares me. I have had several years of not having much time with my chosen human due to his work schedule and then the arrival of a small child distanced us further. As a result, I'm in the process of finding my social self once again. My current foster family sees me as an emerging cuddly and playful dog who is rediscovering the joys of living in a pack of humans and dogs. While I am currently shy, my joie de vivre in being with others is more and more obvious. I am greatly looking forward to finding a loving adopter to join me for my 'mature' years ahead. Below is some further information about me:Weight: 18 lbs Breed: Spitz/Papillon cross Height: I need to be measured but definitely under 20 insTemperament: Although i am currently shy, my cuddly, playful, self is slowly emerging. As a result of my fear around small children, I'm not a dog who can easily live with kids of any age. I'm probably not going to be a good fit with cats either as they can often surpise a dog with their sudden movements.I am good on walks as I frequently ignore people and dogs who I pass. As you can see from my photos, I really enjoy relaxing indoors but I also enjoy time outdoors to explore all the wonderful scents and to take in the sights of the world around me. I may not initially be at ease with new people but I definitely feel more comfortable once I know them better. I juist love the kitchen as I am quite food motivated although I never show food guarding behaviours. I definitely respond with great joy to treats!I would be thrilled to find a new home as I have many years ahead of me and I would love to share them with loving humans.Leash skills: quite good Housetraining: most of the time but please be patient with me to help me apply my skills in a new home settingI am immunized, neutered, and microchipped.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
