This sweet 10-month-old girl is a smart, playful girl who is taking her time learning about the world around her. She is a smart cookie with a sensitive nature, and she’s looking for a calm, confident home where she can continue to build confidence at her own pace.
Florence may be unsure at first in new situations and meeting new people, but once she feels safe and understands the routine, her joy for living really shines through. She’s the kind of dog who prefers quiet companionship and predictable routines over busy households and random activity. A low-traffic home with patient adults, combined with daily enrichment and play, will help her feel secure and allow her personality to blossom. She will self play with toys and enjoys regular playdates with other confident, robust dogs. She loves to chase, wrestle and play with toys with other dogs and truly comes alive around her canine companions.
Florence has gained a lot of confidence around new sounds and movement, and she continues to make progress every day as her boundaries are respected and we continue to pair all new experiences with positive rewards. She is enjoying clicker training and is much more confident when other dogs are around.
On walks, she’s alert to all noises and movements, and sometimes pause to take things in. She does best with a handler who allows her to move at a steady, reassuring pace, and with treats! She perks up in a friendly way when she sees other dogs. With continued positive experiences, her confidence outdoors will continue to grow.
She would be happiest in non-dense neighborhood, in a quiet home without young children, where there are minimal surprise visitors, noises and movements. She is also a little too interested in cats, so a home with no small animals would be best for her. She’s not looking to be the life of the party—she’s looking for someone who will appreciate her smart yet vulnerable spirit, enjoy working with her to build her confidence and skills, and let trust grow naturally.
With patience, consistency, and collaborative training, this lovely girl will make a deeply loyal companion. Though she appears aloof at first, she bonds quickly and tightly with people and is a true joy to build a relationship with.
An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this.

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
