We found out about Sissy being in a shelter in southern Illinois, got all temperament information, posted for a foster, had a tentative plan, and committed to her. In the middle of getting a transport plan together, the shelter told us that Sissy is pregnant, about a month along. We let her foster family know and they did not hesitate...they said they would still foster her. 11/23 UPDATE: Sissy arrived at her Wisconsin foster home last weekend and she is doing amazing! She is the best girl and gets along with absolutely everyone and everything. We are working on getting her in to be spayed then she will be ready to find her furver home!! 3/31/26 UPDATE....Sissy's foster family has decided not to adopt her. Here is the latest update on her from her foster mom.....
Our sweet foster girl Sissy is looking for a home. If you are looking for a snuggly couch potato that can also be your walking/running buddy, tug of war buddy, small prey alert system, yard protection alarm…she is your girl! She is very loved, but unfortunately we can not keep her. With my medical diagnosis and her size/strength, it just won’t work. She weighs about 55-60lbs and likely needs kids that outweigh her. She isn’t intentionally rough, but she LOVES to play! She wants to chase and be chased and she loves to play keep away! She just needs bigger kids because sometimes it becomes a full body contact sport. Her prey drive strong, but she is a quick learner! We have been working with her and she is improving, but with my EDS (connective tissue disorder) she is just too strong for me and I am her primary caregiver. It is NOT HER FAULT! We did not expect my EDS it rapidly worsen the way it has. This isn’t easy, but she is a wonderful dog and extremely loyal and loving, we want the absolute best for her, and we can’t provide that.
