Meet Button
Button is a 7‑pound Silky Terrier with a huge heart and a brand‑new outlook on life. After spending her early years raising puppies, she finally gained her freedom last summer — and she’s been making up for lost time ever since.
Button is a classic Velcro Dog. She sticks close to her person, checks in often, and wants to be part of everything you do. She enjoys meeting new people and socializing, but she always circles back to make sure her human is nearby. She’s protective in a sweet, loyal way and bonds deeply with her people.
She has recently discovered the joy of play and absolutely loves spending time with other dogs. Button went camping for the first time, took a boat ride, and even visited a private dog park where she sniffed every inch like a professional explorer. She’s also learned about treats (big fan), pup cups (even bigger fan), and the magic of a tasty meal topper. She’s a wonderful car passenger and is always happy to tag along on adventures.
Button is potty trained with only rare accidents, crate trained, and great on a leash. Loud noises and chaotic environments can make her anxious, and she may pace until she feels safe again. She can be skittish with sudden sounds and may try to bolt if startled, so a watchful adopter and secure environment are important. She’ll do best in a calm home with older or considerate children. Because she loves canine companionship, her ideal home would include another small dog to be her playmate.
Button does have a medical diagnosis called Hepatic Microvascular Dysplasia (MVD). This is a congenital condition involving microscopic blood vessels in the liver that don’t filter blood as efficiently as they should. The important—and reassuring—part is that most dogs with MVD live normal, happy, symptom‑free lives, especially when the condition is mild, as it often is. MVD is common in small breeds like Silky Terriers, Yorkies, and Poodles. Button will need routine veterinary monitoring, but she handles her care beautifully and thrives with consistency, structure, and reassurance.
At the end of the day, Button is happiest curled up on the couch, snuggled next to her person, drifting off to sleep knowing she’s safe and loved. She’s up for almost anything — as long as her human is right there with her.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate, goofy little companion who will adore you with her whole heart, Button is ready to be your tiny shadow and adventure buddy. ✨

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
