Flaky is an affectionate and even-tempered gentleman, who recently arrived in Canada from Mexico, and is approximately 1 year old. He is intelligent, polite, and loves belly rubs. Flaky was living on the streets of Mexico and was suffering before he was taken in by a rescue organization, and then ultimately made his way up to Canada. Flaky is an excellent house guest, who is fully house trained and sleeps through the night in his crate. Flaky has met cats and is uninterested in them, and due to his time as a street dog, he is very smart when meeting other dogs. Flaky is suspicious when a dog is on a leash pulling towards him (aren't we all Flaky) and he can bark a warning. However, when he is properly introduced, Flaky is easy going with other dogs, and will carry on with his walk. Flaky loves to play in the backyard with his ball, and is working on returning it during games of fetch. He also enjoys his toys in the house which he will play with to keep himself occupied in-between his walking activities and his naps. Flaky has never barked in the house.
Flaky would do well in a household with a comfy couch, a fenced backyard for playing ball, and lots of love, as he is more affection motivated than he is food motivated. Flaky does well on car rides, after being reminded that he needs to sit down in the back and not be standing up. When running errands, Flaky is content to stay in his crate, and he settles in his crate for a nap when you are out of the house.
We would describe Flaky as a relatively easy dog, as he has mastered most things in a dog's life. He is good with meeting new people (as long as they understand how to greet a new dog), good with other dogs, indifferent to cats, walks loosely beside you on his leash (unless he smells something really interesting), takes long sun naps but still has energy to play and run with his people, sleeps well, and is just the most adorable guy ever! This guy is dreaming of a forever home who has someone home for at least part of the day, with humans that have lots of snuggles to give (and plenty of space for him on the couch), and is able to provide him with lots of walks and play time.
