Breed History

Ancient German breed developed for vermin control, ratting, and farm work. Ancestor to the Doberman Pinscher and Miniature Pinscher. Nearly faced extinction after World War II but was revived by Werner Jung in West Germany in the late 1950s. Recognized by AKC in 2003.
