Breed History

Developed in the early 20th century by polar explorer Arthur Treadwell Walden by crossing Mastiff-type dogs with Huskies and Belgian Shepherds. Named after the foundation male 'Chinook', bred to be an ideal sled dog for New England conditions. Recognized by the AKC in 2013.
