A well-muscled, short-legged hunting terrier with a silky, wavy coat and natural drop ears, known for its calm and gentle temperament compared to other terriers. Bred for hunting in Bohemian forests, this less-active and quieter terrier was developed to work effectively in packs.

Developed in the mid-20th century by Czech breeder František Horák, who crossed Scottish Terriers with Sealyham Terriers to create a tenacious but more tractable hunting terrier for the forests of Bohemia. Recognized by the FCI in 1963 and AKC in 2011.
